OVM pushes its latest work into a new dimension with the release of the live session for “Senoide 1 / Senoide 2,” arriving June 2 on YouTube. Filmed at Studio Casarão in Piracicaba, the video turns one of the most complex tracks from the EP “Senoides” into a striking live performance.
A closing chapter at Studio Casarão
This release completes a series of live recordings produced at the studio created by Franco Torrezan. The band previously shared sessions for “Mundo Deserto,” a reinterpretation of Erasmo Carlos, and “Depois?”.
With “Senoide 1 / Senoide 2,” the trio concludes the project by deepening its core idea: capturing the unfiltered intensity of live performance through continuous takes.
Mental health at the center
The track plays a key role in “Exúvios,” an album being released in chapters, and centers on mental health as its conceptual backbone. According to the band, the song explores schizophrenia through two distinct phases.
“This song is about schizophrenia and its two phases: the active and the residual.”
The active phase is associated with auditory and visual hallucinations and paranoia, while the residual phase reflects a state outside of crisis. This duality shapes the entire composition.
The title references a sine wave, a continuous rise-and-fall motion that mirrors the mental cycles portrayed in the song.
Structure and live intensity
Musically, the track reinforces its concept through form. It is divided into two sections, both maintaining an unusual 7/8 time signature while shifting riffs and tonalities.
In the live session, these elements become more pronounced. The continuous take highlights tension, repetition, and disorientation, all central to the composition’s identity.
The recording took place over a full day at the house, under intense heat and across more than five hours of work, adding a palpable physical layer to the performance.
OVM’s evolving identity
Formed by Mancin, Dan, and Eddie in 2014 in Jundiaí, O Velho Manco has carved a distinctive space in Brazilian alternative rock. Their sound blends existential lyricism, emotional weight, and vibrant arrangements with a strong 1990s influence.
With “Senoides,” the band expands the conceptual world of “Exúvios,” translating its themes into both sound and image with increasing depth.
The session also features drummer Catraca as a guest. Audio recording and editing were handled by Franco Torrezan, reinforcing the studio’s role as a creative hub for the series.
