Pablo Vares bids farewell to Rio at Casa com a Música

Uruguayan musician Pablo Vares plays an intimate instrumental set with flamenco guitar and handpan on Jan 9, 8pm, at Casa com a Música in Lapa.

Uruguayan artist Pablo Vares closes his Rio de Janeiro chapter with a farewell concert. The night features an instrumental set built around flamenco guitar and handpan, on Friday, January 9, at 8pm, at Casa com a Música, in Lapa.

Based in Brazil since 2012, Vares works as a musician, composer, producer and musical director. His solo instrumental project has toured eight Brazilian states and reached Germany, shaped by the dialogue between flamenco guitar and handpan.

Alongside his authorial work, he has appeared in dozens of productions with more than fifteen flamenco dance companies. Nominated for two awards for best theatrical soundtrack, he has also worked with Rosamaria Murtinho, Leticia Spiller, Marcos Mion, Bruno Fagundes and Jorge Farjalla.

In recorded music and audiovisual projects, Vares has worked with a range of artists, including the band Blitz. He also produces music for Globo featured on Big Brother Brasil 2022, composes for audiovisual formats, and has work shown in Ireland.

He is connected to institutions such as Instituto Cervantes, the National Union of Musical Composers, and several universities. Over the years, he has appeared on radio and TV programs including “Caldeirão do Huck”, “Caldeirão com Mion”, “Encontros com a Fátima Bernardes”, “Dancing Brasil” and “Você na TV!” in Portugal.

A street performer since 2013, Vares brings culture to broad audiences and has been invited to festivals, documentaries and series in the field. One highlight is “Buscando Buskers”, aired on channels such as Arte 1 and Music Box Brasil.

With a distinctive instrumental identity, he has played well-known venues such as Clube do Choro Brasília and the Marien Calixte Jazz Music Festival. He has therefore joined events that also feature artists like Marcell Powell and Hamilton de Holanda.

He is currently producing two albums and is sponsored by six instrument brands.

Casa com a Música in Lapa

Set on the street once home to Carmen Miranda, Jacob do Bandolim and Moreira da Silva, Casa com a Música is designed to feel like a living room, hosting concerts in a warm, intimate atmosphere. The venue’s idea is to bring people together through music and a wide range of styles.
