Some songs feel untouchable. Van Halen’s “Jump,” released in 1984, is one of them. Yet Coca-Cola chose that very track as the anthem for its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, and tapped Brazilian DJ and producer Pedro Sampaio to lead the reimagining. The result dropped this Friday, May 8, and it features a lineup that few would have predicted sharing the same record.

The remix brings together the vocals of J Balvin and Amber Mark, drums from Travis Barker, and guitar from Steve Vai. Sampaio’s production anchors it all, infusing the track with an unmistakably Latin pulse, designed to mirror the emotional swings of a live football match.

A surreal career moment

For Pedro Sampaio, who grew up in Brazil with the World Cup as a near-sacred event, the project carries personal weight far beyond its commercial scope.

“The World Cup has an incredibly strong emotional impact for those of us who grew up in Brazil. Being part of a campaign this big, reinterpreting such an iconic classic, is a surreal moment in my career. Especially alongside artists I admire so much. I couldn’t be happier!” — Pedro Sampaio

That sense of awe reflects something genuine. Sampaio is among the most recognized Brazilian producers of his generation, known for bridging funk, electronic, and pop music with a confidence that has brought him international attention.

Latin energy at the center

Choosing Sampaio was a deliberate creative decision. His sonic identity, shaped by years of navigating between Brazilian funk and global club music, gave Coca-Cola exactly what the campaign needed: a Latin American perspective on football’s biggest stage.

The remix transforms the original arena rock anthem into something built for collective celebration. The track’s structure captures the specific tension of a football game, the anxious buildup, the eruption after a goal, all channeled through a production that feels both familiar and new.

J Balvin brings the global reach of reggaeton, Amber Mark adds a soulful melodic layer, while Travis Barker and Steve Vai ensure the track never loses sight of its rock DNA. The combination is unexpected, but it works.
