De Leve performs at Sesc Ramos on November 20, celebrating 25 years of rap and the genre’s legacy of resistance.
On Black Awareness Day, November 20, rap takes on deeper meaning with De Leve’s performance at Sesc Ramos. The date, which honors the fight for racial equality and cultural memory, connects directly with the genre’s origins as a voice of the streets and an instrument of social change.
Celebrating 25 years of career, the rapper leads the special circuit “De Leve – 25 Years of Brazilian Rap”, touring Sesc RJ venues throughout November and December. On stage, he performs hits from his career and presents his new album “Mantendo o Rap Vivo” (October 2025), reaffirming his status as a pioneer of Brazilian hip-hop.
Rap as memory and resistance
Born in Niterói and raised in Méier, De Leve is known for his mix of sharp humor, social criticism and sonic experimentation. Directed by Felipe Flores and produced by FG3 Entretenimento, the 70-minute show features DJ Jef Rodriguez and guest artists in each performance, closing with freestyle sessions that invite audience participation.
The project was selected for the Sesc RJ Pulsar Cultural Program and includes urban art-inspired scenography, reinforcing hip-hop’s visual identity. All performances will be recorded and turned into audiovisual content for the artist’s official channels.
25 years of rap history
A founder of the Quinto Andar collective, De Leve helped reshape national rap in the 2000s with his album Piratão (2005), a milestone in Rio’s hip-hop culture. The project also celebrates rap as an intangible cultural heritage of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Law 7.837/18), highlighting hip-hop’s role as a political and educational movement.
