Refúgio dos Amores Improváveis song featured in Portuguese TV series

The trio’s track “A Escolha Foi a Certa” joins the soundtrack of “Terra Forte”, a new Portuguese drama aired on TVI and Prime Video.

The Brazilian trio Refúgio dos Amores Improváveis — composed of Eline, Gab Lara and Tom Karabachian — celebrates the inclusion of their song “A Escolha Foi a Certa” (“The Choice Was Right”) in the soundtrack of the Portuguese TV series “Terra Forte”. The show, written by Maria João Costa — winner of the International Emmy for “Ouro Verde” — is a co-production between TVI and Prime Video.

Premiered on October 20, the series was filmed between the Azores Islands and Florianópolis, Brazil. It tells the story of an Azorean family that emigrates to Brazil in search of a better life — a narrative that, like the song, explores roots, affection, and rediscovery.

“The series has been warmly received by the audience, which is so gratifying. The soundtrack turned out beautifully and truly moves people. It feels like the audience is joining us on this journey,” says Maria João Costa, who selected the song for the show.

A debut album about love and connection

The trio recently released their self-titled debut album, distributed by Altafonte. The record explores love in its many forms — intense, improbable, and enduring — through ten tracks that blend heartfelt lyrics and rich instrumentation. The project emerged naturally from the friendship and creative synergy between the artists.

“We wanted to create an album that feels good to listen to — one that accompanies life’s roads, friendships, and moments of solitude. Something that brings warmth and reminds us it’s always worth taking a chance on love,” says Gab Lara.

Drawing inspiration from Clube da Esquina to Billie Eilish, the trio blends MPB, pop, and indie influences into a modern and emotional sound. The album was produced by Moodstock (Julio Raposo, Pepê Santos, and Uiliam Pimenta) and Lucas Nunes, resulting in an organic yet contemporary mix.
