Os Pagodes Que A Gente Gosta lands at Portela’s venue on Jan 17, with a Vol. 3 live recording and guests like Mumuzinho.
Brazilian singer Renan Oliveira is set to deliver a new milestone in his pagode journey. On Saturday, January 17, from 2 pm, he brings a special edition of his label Os Pagodes Que A Gente Gosta to a highly symbolic stage: Portela’s quadra in Madureira, Rio de Janeiro. The event will also serve as the live recording of the project’s audiovisual Volume 3.
A declared Portela supporter, Oliveira says the choice of venue fulfills both a personal and artistic dream. “Those who really know me know I’m Portela, blue-and-white through and through. There couldn’t be a better moment to record this audiovisual than here, at the home of the school I love so much,” he says.
He also highlights his family’s connection to the samba school. “My mother served as the state’s Superintendent of Culture and created several public calls for Portela’s venue. That brought me closer to the school and even to Tia Surica. I’m very happy,” he adds.
The recording is expected to feature a crowd-pleasing setlist, mixing major pagode hits that shaped generations and reflect Oliveira’s musical identity. “It’s going to be a big edition of Os Pagodes Que A Gente Gosta, with an amazing repertoire, exactly how the audience has been waiting for it. I’m counting on everyone being there so we can sing together,” he invites.
Special guests include Mumuzinho, Thiago Soares, Marquinhos Sensação and Fabinho, along with additional names. As a result, the night aims to capture the feel of a celebration and a get-together among friends from samba and pagode.
Video direction is led by Leandrinho, who will film every detail of the performance and the new audiovisual. “I want to invite you to enjoy Os Pagodes Que A Gente Gosta – Volume 3 with me, the show and recording of my new audiovisual. I hope to see you there to live this beautiful party with me,” Oliveira says.
