Rock 80 Festival lands at Flamengo with free gigs

The Rock 80 Festival debuts on Jan 10–11 at Flamengo Park, with free shows from 2pm and a lineup fueled by 80s rock classics.

Rio’s summer 2026 gets louder with the year’s first edition of the Rock 80 Festival, set for Jan 10 and 11 at Flamengo Park (Posto 3), starting at 2pm. The event brings rock’n’roll to one of the city’s most iconic waterfront spots.

Designed to celebrate Brazilian and international rock staples—especially the signature sound of the 1980s—the festival aims to connect generations and encourage cultural use of public spaces. Updates and the full schedule are posted on Instagram @rock80festival.

Saturday lineup (Jan 10)

Saturday opens with a DJ set, followed by Cão Noturno, an original project featured in the “Eu Quero Abrir o Rock 80” initiative. Next, Banda Piazzas performs hits associated with Lulu Santos, Nenhum de Nós, Capital Inicial, Legião Urbana and Cazuza.

Later, The Red Pilot takes the stage with tributes and reinterpretations of The Police, Queen, Aerosmith, Kiss and Van Halen. The night ends with Bloco 8 e 80, blending percussion, performance and an 80s spirit tailored to Rio’s summer vibe.

Sunday lineup (Jan 11)

On Sunday, after the DJ warm-up, Nside Band mixes heavy and melodic tracks, featuring songs by Black Sabbath, Evanescence, Radiohead, Metallica and Pitty. Then, Banda The Lux delivers Brazilian and international rock favorites, including Men at Work, U2, Paralamas do Sucesso, Barão Vermelho and Engenheiros do Hawaii.

RHCP Tribute by Snow follows with a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute set. Closing the festival, A Conexão 80 revisits songs linked to Plebe Rude, Biquini Cavadão, Queen and Guns N’ Roses.
