Brazilian icon Rosamaria Murtinho stars alongside her granddaughter in a new play celebrating Iris Apfel’s fearless creativity and colorful spirit.
Debuting on March 6 at Teatro I Love Prio in Rio’s Jockey Club, “A Life in Color” runs through April 5 with weekend performances. Inspired by American fashion legend Iris Apfel, the play blends humor, warmth, and reflection on love, aging, and self-expression.
The story follows an eccentric, wise woman — inspired by Iris — who receives a visit from a young Vogue intern. What begins as a formal interview unfolds into an intimate generational exchange exploring ageism and fashion as identity.
Written and directed by Cacau Hygino, the production reimagines his earlier monologue “Through Iris” into a lively new two-woman piece. Colorful costumes, vibrant lighting, and tender humor make the show a celebration of life and creativity.
“A Life in Color invites audiences to laugh, feel, and embrace life with more freedom and joy,” says Cacau Hygino.
