Show blends jazz, carimbó and Latin influences
The instrumental group Sextante, led by French-Brazilian saxophonist Jérôme Charlemán, performs today, 11/12, at Casa da Cultura de Paraty. The free show highlights contemporary Brazilian music in dialogue with jazz, carimbó and regional caiçara traditions.
With a 100% original repertoire, Sextante weaves contemporary jazz, rock fusion, Caribbean samba, carimbó, caiçara ciranda and Latin American influences. Singer Manu Cavalaro joins the performance with strong artistic presence.
The show transforms landscapes, memories and local culture into sound, using regional rhythms from Paraty as a foundation for contemporary jazz improvisation.
The event is part of the group’s circulation cycle supported by Programa Funarte Aberta and the Fluxos Fluminenses RJ grant.
About Sextante
Created in 2022, Sextante brings together musicians connected to the cultural scene of the Costa Verde region. The lineup includes Jérôme Charlemán, Rhandal Oliveira, Jonathan Andreoli, Franco Lorenzon, Rogel Junior and Henrique Rosseto.
The repertoire moves through rock fusion, Caribbean samba, jazz, soul, bossa and caiçara rhythms, honoring master Matias Capovilla.
Singer Manu Cavalaro performs a Brazilian version of Serge Gainsbourg’s Couleur Café, one of the show’s strongest moments.
In 2023, Sextante won the Rádio MEC 100 Years Award for Best Composition and Best Performance with Artemis.

The group is formed by experienced artists with national and international careers, using music as a bridge between people and territories.
