Days before Roberto Carlos turns 85, singer TAMY reimagines his classic hits with bold new arrangements at Dolores Club on April 18.
A tribute from one state, one heart
Brazilian singer-songwriter TAMY takes the stage at Dolores Club in Rio de Janeiro’s Lapa neighborhood on April 18, 2026 — the very day Roberto Carlos turns 85 — for a night she calls “RoberTAMY Carlos”. Both artists share the same roots: they were born in the state of Espírito Santo, and that connection runs deep throughout the show’s concept. TAMY describes it as a tribute from one capixaba to another.
The project, nearly a year in the making, pairs TAMY’s commanding stage presence with modern arrangements by Giuliano Eriston, who also serves as musical director. The results are daring: the melancholic ballad “Outra Vez” is reborn as a tropical bolero, while “Como É Grande o Meu Amor por Você” takes on the groove of Jamaican rock-steady.
A new single for the king’s birthday
The show spotlights “Com Muito Amor e Carinho”, released on April 10 across streaming platforms as an early birthday gift to Roberto. In TAMY’s hands, the song transforms into an exuberant pagodão baiano — a testament to her gift for fusing styles without losing emotional depth. “I chose to record this song because it has a force that transcends time,” she says.
Roberto is immense! An artist with so many years of activity — he’s actually several artists in one. There will always be people enchanted by his work, wanting to sing his songs. Now it’s my turn.
From Espírito Santo to the world
The setlist spans Roberto Carlos’s golden era — the 1960s through the 1980s — when he outsold Michael Jackson and Madonna in Brazil. TAMY also highlights his role as a trailblazer: long before any recent wave of Brazilian music going global, Roberto was already releasing albums in Spanish and building a devoted following across Latin America.
“I felt called to sing Roberto Carlos when I noticed that younger generations simply don’t connect with his work. They don’t recognize it. That hit me hard, because he’s a fascinating artist,” she explains. TAMY has collaborated with artists such as Lokua Kanza, Roberto Menescal, and Josiel Konrad, and has released four original albums with international distribution.
Band and setlist
Joining Giuliano Eriston on guitar are Pablo Carvalho (percussion), Joana Saraiva (saxophone), Bianca Santos (trumpet), Alexandre Cavallo (bass), and Robson Lins (drums). The setlist includes beloved titles such as “Que Vá Tudo pro Inferno,” “Proibido Fumar,” “As Curvas da Estrada de Santos,” “Namoradinha de um Amigo Meu,” and “Como É Grande o Meu Amor,” among others.
