The Strokes release “Going Shopping” and confirm the new album “Reality Awaits,” out June 26 via Sony Music.
Recorded in Costa Rica with producer Rick Rubin and finished across multiple studios worldwide, the album marks the band’s first release since the acclaimed “The New Abnormal” (2020). “Reality Awaits” opens a new creative phase for the New York rock icons.
The cover art, “Untitled (Cowboy)” (1989) by Richard Prince, also features on the single “Going Shopping,” now streaming globally.
The Strokes will headline major festivals this spring and summer, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Outside Lands and Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan.
Formed in New York City, the band — Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti — shaped the sound of a generation since their debut “Is This It” (2001).
