Forty years after shaking Brazil with one of the most provocative records in the history of Brazilian rock, Titãs return to the stage to celebrate Cabeça Dinossauro. The tour Titãs – Cabeça Dinossauro 40 Anos hits Rio de Janeiro on May 9, 2026, at Qualistage, starting at 9 PM. The event is produced by 30e, Brazil’s largest live entertainment company, and presented by Itaú.

The Album That Changed Brazilian Rock

Released in 1986, during Brazil’s fragile return to democracy, Cabeça Dinossauro was a watershed moment. The country was emerging from two decades of military dictatorship, facing a deep economic and social crisis. Into that landscape, Titãs delivered a record of aggressive sound, minimalist aesthetics, and lyrics that tackled censorship, faith, violence, and power with raw, uncompromising force.

Tracks like “Polícia”, “Igreja”, “Bichos Escrotos”, and “AAUU” became the battle cry of a discontented generation. Produced by Liminha, Vitor Farias, and Pena Schmidt, the album was called “violent,” “raw,” and “revolutionary” by critics. Decades later, it consistently tops lists of the greatest Brazilian rock albums ever made.

The Band Speaks

Cabeça Dinossauro shaped our career and the history of Brazilian rock, there’s no denying it. We invented our vocabulary there — heavy riffs, shouted vocals, sharp and precise lyrics. Combined with the themes of the songs, it left a deep mark on our journey. — Sérgio Britto

It is moving to celebrate an album that remains relevant after 40 years. — Tony Bellotto

Cabeça Dinossauro is turning 40 and it is with immense pleasure that we will celebrate this very special date with our audience. — Branco Mello

A Show Directed by a Seasoned Hand

The concert is directed by Otávio Juliano, the acclaimed professional who also helmed the Titãs Encontro show and has worked with iconic Brazilian artists including Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia. The expectation is for a production that matches the scale of an album whose message feels even more urgent in 2026, as Brazil once again navigates deep social and political polarization.

Alexandre Wesley, VP Global Music Promoter at 30e, highlighted the bond built with the band. “We could not let such an important milestone in Brazilian music pass — the four decades of the Cabeça Dinossauro album,” he said. For Itaú, the partnership reflects its long-standing commitment to Brazilian culture. “Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Cabeça Dinossauro means recognizing one of the most transformative records in Brazilian music history,” said Rodrigo Montesano, Superintendent of Brand Experiences and Connections at Itaú.
