Maranhão singer A Safadinha do Forró fuses traditional forró with pop and LGBTQIA+ themes, gaining spotlight with singles and albums via Sua Música Digital.
Born in São Luís, Maranhão, Wanessa Lobato developed a deep bond with music from childhood. She sang Xuxa hits and adored her family’s Madonna records. As a teen, Britney Spears and Spice Girls joined her influences, alongside lifelong forró.
A Safadinha do Forró: unique identity
A Safadinha do Forró is the stage name of trans singer, actress and composer Wanessa Lobato. She stands out by blending traditional forró with pop flair, sensuality and lyrics on empowerment, love, desire and LGBTQIA+ resistance. Her bold originality draws a wide audience.
Her career kicked off in school choir and at 12 as backing vocalist for The Angels band. In 2018, Britney Spears covers on social media went viral, sparking original clips, São Luís gigs and national reach.
Wanessa lived in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza and back to São Paulo for collaborations. She now plans to settle in Fortaleza, strengthening Northeastern roots. The region’s Calypso sound, led by Joelma, shaped her style: high boots, striking choreography and charismatic vocals.
Career highlights and releases
Dedicated to growth, she takes weekly singing lessons and aims to master guitar and keyboard. Key moments: opening for Joelma in São Luís early on, and launching her debut album at São Paulo’s Risca Fada party, where fans sang her originals.
Hands-on in songwriting, production and visuals, she collaborates with friends, refines vocals and crafts a pop-forró aesthetic — earning the “Britney of Forró” nickname. Since 2025, she’s with Sua Música Digital, releasing singles “Tanto Faz,” “Dona do Prazer,” “Nosso Love Love” and “Cair de Amor,” plus the album “Para Todos os Garotos que Já Peguei.”
Upcoming: deluxe edition and audiovisual album “O Cabaré da Safadinha,” with recorded performances, marking her digital rise.
