With four songs on the Hot 100 and a Grammy nod in hand, Zara Larsson drops Midnight Sun: Girls Trip — an all-female remix album built for the ages.
Remix albums don’t usually feel like events. Midnight Sun: Girls Trip does. Released via Sony Music, the project reimagines every track from Zara Larsson’s critically acclaimed 2025 album Midnight Sun with an entirely female cast: Shakira, Robyn, Tyla, PinkPantheress, Kehlani, JT, Madison Beer, Emilia, Helena Gao, Margo XS, BAMBII, Malibu, and Eli — each bringing their own world into hers.
Rolling Stone called the original Midnight Sun “Larsson’s most radiant work.” Girls Trip takes that radiance and refracts it through genres, languages, and continents without losing the thread.
Track by Track: A Global Dance Floor
PinkPantheress opens the album with her signature UK garage pulse layered beneath Zara’s luminous dance-pop, turning the title track into something that feels both familiar and brand new. Kehlani follows with an R&B-drenched take on the romantic “Blue Moon,” and JT delivers a razor-sharp verse on “Pretty Ugly,” remixed by Margo XS.
Further in, Shakira reshapes “Eurosummer” into a sun-soaked floor-filler with an effortless Mediterranean feel. Tyla turns up the heat on “Hot & Sexy,” and Robyn — whose presence here was perhaps the most anticipated of all — appears on “Puss Puss.” Throughout the album, Zara adds fresh vocal layers, keeping the whole project cohesive rather than scattered.
A Career at Full Tilt
Girls Trip arrives at a moment when Larsson’s momentum is impossible to ignore. She currently holds four simultaneous entries on the Billboard Hot 100 — “Lush Life” (peak #35, music video surpassing one billion views), “Midnight Sun” (#39), “She Did It Again” with Tyla (#59), and “Stateside” (#6), her PinkPantheress collab that hit #1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Spotify Global Top 50 after Olympic champion Alysa Liu used the track during her routine.
In February, she earned her first Grammy nomination — Best Dance Pop Recording for “Midnight Sun.” Last Wednesday, she was honored with the Breakthrough Award at Billboard Women in Music, where she also delivered a standout performance. Billboard summed up the moment plainly: “the album that made her a new dominant name among the pop girls.”
“This is the moment Larsson finally cements herself as the top pop girl.” — VOGUE
The accolades keep stacking up: five American Music Award nominations (including Breakthrough Pop Artist and Song of the Year on Social Media), a New Yorker profile titled “Zara Larsson Gets Her Flowers” published in April, and a sold-out North American headline tour that The New Yorker described as “a comeback that feels like a debut.”
Festivals, Arenas and a Greek Theatre Night
Starting next month, Larsson heads into a packed summer festival circuit: Lollapalooza Chicago, BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend, and multiple European dates. In September, the Midnight Sun Tour officially resumes with a special show at the iconic Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on the 29th, before moving on to arena dates across Australia and New Zealand — all pre-sales sold out in under two hours, more than six months in advance.
When Larsson announced Girls Trip, she kept it simple: “This is just the beginning of Girls Trip!!!” Given everything she’s built over the last year, that sounds less like hype and more like a warning.
