Brazilian forró star Zé Vaqueiro made a surprise appearance at “Forró da Roça” in Rocinha on Saturday (28), thrilling fans before headlining a sold-out Espaço Hall.
The singer arrived quietly by van around 4 PM at Via Ápia, one of the main streets running through the Rocinha community in Rio de Janeiro, where the “Forró da Roça” event had been drawing crowds since 3 PM. Without any announcement, he stepped onto the makeshift stage and joined the local artists already performing.
Forró takes over Rocinha
Zé Vaqueiro‘s appearance was a genuine gift to the crowd. The artist performed some of his biggest piseiro and forró hits, turning the Saturday afternoon into an impromptu Northeastern Brazilian celebration right in the heart of one of Rio’s most iconic communities.

Later that same Saturday, Zé Vaqueiro brought his “Muído do Original” project to Rio de Janeiro for the very first time, headlining Espaço Hall in Barra da Tijuca from 9 PM onward. Sharing the stage with Mari Fernandez, the singer packed a venue with a capacity of 6,600 people.
“Muído do Original” is more than a concert — it is a label created by Zé Vaqueiro to celebrate Northeastern Brazilian roots, forró music, and the spirit of the traditional vaquejada rodeos that shaped his identity. The project carries a distinctive energy that longtime fans instantly recognize.
