Black Friday expected to move R$ 1.39 billion in Rio

Black Friday is expected to move R$ 1.39 billion in Rio de Janeiro, with an average ticket of R$ 1,385, according to a survey by the Fecomércio Institute for Research and Analysis (IFec RJ).

The survey interviewed 1,042 consumers in Greater Rio between November 11 and 14.

Planned average spending of R$ 1,385 is slightly higher than last year’s R$ 1,345.

Total financial turnover is estimated at R$ 1.39 billion, compared to R$ 1.37 billion in 2024.

According to the study, 27.6% of respondents intend to shop on Black Friday, up from 27% last year.

Among those planning to buy, the most sought-after items are home appliances (41.8%), electronics (25.4%), clothing, footwear and accessories (16.4%), household items (4.6%) and perfumery (3.5%).

The survey also examined whether Christmas influences purchases.

A total of 68.2% said no, 22.8% said yes and 9.1% reported being partially influenced.

Black Friday actions in Rio’s shopping malls

Throughout Black Friday, shopping centres across Rio de Janeiro are running special campaigns and discounts in different segments.

Fashion Mall

At Fashion Mall, laundry chain 5àsec offers, until November 29, one free wash when customers pay for two other items.

The promotion covers all washing services except leather, rugs, wedding dresses and dyeing.

At the Compactor Store, selected items are on sale.

The Pilates Start package offers 11 classes for the price of 8, for two instalments of R$ 480, a 30% discount.

At Igui Piscinas, there is a 40% discount on all heater models when purchasing a pool.

Options include the Thermas Inverter WiFi heater, 9,800 BTU model, starting at R$ 4,170.

Shopping Jardim Guadalupe

At Shopping Jardim Guadalupe, CVC is offering 6% off domestic travel packages for payments via Pix.

At Cine Araújo, from November 27 to 30, tickets cost R$ 8, and combos carry a 20% discount.

Some screenings also feature the “Todos Pagam Meia” half-price campaign.

The loyalty programme offers exclusive benefits even for customers with low points, and new registrations receive a 200-point welcome bonus.

The campaign runs from November 28 to 30.

To participate, customers must download the West Shopping app for iOS or Android, register or log in, access the Clube+ tab, choose a benefit and generate a coupon.

The coupon is validated directly at the selected store.

Exclusive benefits include, at Sonho dos Pés, a R$ 80 voucher when spending R$ 79.90.
