Premiered on October 29 on Discovery Channel and HBO Max, the seventh season of “Airport – Restricted Area” once again takes viewers behind the scenes of airport inspections across Brazil. Over 12 episodes, the series captures surprising seizures and high-risk operations led by the country’s customs and security teams.

Impact operation

At Pinto Martins International Airport in Fortaleza (CE), a routine inspection uncovered seven packages hidden under a metal plate inside a suitcase. Tests confirmed the presence of THC, the main psychoactive component of marijuana. The passenger was charged with interstate drug trafficking.

Surprises in the suitcase

During the inspection of a flight from Paris, the Federal Revenue’s sniffer dog Dark detected illegal substances in two suitcases. Tests confirmed MDMA, a synthetic amphetamine derivative, hidden in a false compartment. The Argentine passenger was immediately detained.

Medicine cargo

In the third episode, agents investigate a passenger carrying 22 boxes of diabetes medication, allegedly intended for weight loss. The case is classified as illegal medicine trafficking and poses a risk to public health.

Crossing challenges

At the Rio de Janeiro International Airport, a Brazilian traveler returning from Europe raised suspicion after presenting a blank passport and no IRIS facial record. Upon investigation, agents discovered he had previously been arrested for drug smuggling, carrying 2.67 kg of illegal substances.

Unexpected twists

At São Paulo International Airport (Guarulhos), agents uncovered a gang smuggling drugs through the airport’s perimeter fence. The operation, triggered by damaged fencing and suspicious vehicle activity, led to the arrest of an employee and the seizure of about 90 kg of illegal materials, one of the largest operations ever conducted by the Federal Revenue.

New episodes of “Airport – Restricted Area” air every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. on Discovery and HBO Max. Previous seasons are available for streaming anytime.

The series is a coproduction between Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. and Moonshot, directed by Gustavo Nobrega and Roberto d’Avila, with Luiz Alberto Gentile as executive producer. Production supervision is by Sergio Nakasone, Adriana Cechetti, and Marina Pedral.
