Dune: Prophecy starts filming its second season in locations across Hungary, Jordan and Spain.
HBO has announced the start of production on the highly anticipated second season of the drama series Dune: Prophecy, created by showrunner Alison Schapker. The new season will feature eight episodes and is being filmed across various European and Middle Eastern countries.
The first season, acclaimed by critics, received four Emmy® nominations and is available on HBO MAX. Moreover, the story continues to explore the vast Dune universe created by Frank Herbert.
Story and setting
Set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, the series follows two Harkonnen sisters who face forces threatening humanity’s future and give rise to the legendary order known as the Bene Gesserit.
New cast members
The second season introduces Indira Varma (Coldwater, The Night Manager, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One), Ashley Walters (Top Boy, Adolescence, Bullet Boy) and Tom Hollander (The White Lotus, The Night Manager, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans).
The trio joins Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten and Tessa Bonham Jones.
In this way, HBO reinforces its commitment to expanding the Dune universe with a high-caliber international production.
