Emma D’Arcy‘s Rhaenyra Targaryen commands the newly released official poster, as HBO Max drops the first look at House of the Dragon Season 3. The highly anticipated season is set to arrive in June 2026, building on the momentum of two acclaimed installments.
The full cast returns for this new chapter. Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke join D’Arcy once again, alongside Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, and many more.
Directing and executive production
Season 3 is directed by Clare Kilner, Nina Lopez-Corrado, Andrij Parekh, and Loni Peristere. Ryan Condal returns as co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer, alongside co-creator and author George R.R. Martin, whose novel Fire & Blood serves as the source material.
The executive team also includes Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett. Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the rise and fall of House Targaryen.
Season 4 already locked in for 2028
Beyond the June premiere, HBO Max has already confirmed Season 4 for 2028 — a clear sign the Targaryen saga is far from over. Seasons 1 and 2 of House of the Dragon, all seasons of Game of Thrones, and Season 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms are currently streaming on the platform.
