A mystery deep in America

HBO Max has released the official teaser for Lanterns, a new original drama series produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television. The show is set to premiere in August, available on both HBO and the streaming platform.

The series follows John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), a rookie Green Lantern, and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), a legendary veteran of the intergalactic police corps. Together, they are pulled into a dark conspiracy while investigating a murder in the heart of the United States. Kelly Macdonald rounds out the lead cast.

Creative team behind the series

The pilot episode was co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, who also serve as co-creators. Mundy is the showrunner. James Hawes directs the first two episodes, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov helming additional episodes.

Executive producers include Mundy, Lindelof, King, Ron Schmidt, Hawes, and DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran. Based on DC Comics’ iconic Green Lantern characters, the series expands the new DC Universe with a story blending mystery, drama, and science fiction.
