Nominated in the Vision category at SXSW, Sew Torn arrived on Looke on April 2 — a mix of comedy, suspense, and a suitcase full of cash.
A seamstress, a suitcase, and an impossible choice
Sew Torn is the latest Looke original and blends dark comedy with suspense in a story driven by moral dilemma. Barbara Duggen is a seamstress struggling to keep her small shop alive. During a routine client visit, she stumbles upon two wounded men and a briefcase filled with money.
The question becomes unavoidable: walk away, call the police, or commit the perfect crime. Director Freddy Macdonald builds the tension with a sharp, fast-paced narrative that keeps audiences second-guessing Barbara’s next move until the very end.
A cast with strong screen credentials
The film stars Eve Connolly (known from The Flock), alongside Calum Worthy (The Act) and veteran actress K Callan, seen in Knives Out. The trio balances comic lightness with escalating tension effectively throughout the story.
The film earned a nomination in the Vision category at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW), one of the most influential film festivals in the world, cementing its status as a standout in the independent circuit.
A packed week of new releases
Looke also launched several other titles this week. On April 1st, the platform dropped the exclusive thriller The Unseen, featuring RJ Mitte, and the sports adventure Leeuwin aka Lioness, about a young Surinamese girl chasing her dream of playing for the Dutch national women’s football team.
Recommended titles include the comedy Totally Boss, following two teenage entrepreneurs, and the suspense Dangerous Allure (aka My Acting Coach Nightmare), starring Samaire Armstrong as a mother racing to protect her daughter from a predatory Hollywood acting coach.
