Adidas revives the trefoil for the World Cup after 36 years

Adidas brings back its iconic trefoil logo for the FIFA World Cup™ with the new away kits of 25 national teams.

For the first time since 1990, the Originals trefoil returns to the world’s biggest football stage. The emblem appears on the right chest of each away shirt, designed to blend retro inspiration with advanced performance technology.

Evoking 1990s aesthetics, the kits blend geometric patterns and vertical stylized lines. Designs from Argentina, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and Spain reinterpret national artistry and symbols through a contemporary lens.

“This is a defining era for football culture,” said Sam Handy, adidas VP of Football. The global launch took over Los Angeles’ Lower Grand Tunnel in a street party curated by pgLang, featuring Kaytranada and Baby Keem.
