Galvão Bueno announced live on “Galvão FC” that 2002 World Cup winner Juninho Paulista has joined SBT and N Sports as a commentator for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The announcement came on Monday (March 30) when Juninho was already appearing as a guest on the show — and Galvão turned the moment into a live reveal. Juninho Paulista was part of Brazil’s legendary squad that lifted the trophy in Japan and South Korea in 2002, and now joins the broadcast team as the tournament approaches.
“Juninho isn’t just our guest tonight. From now on, he’s part of our World Cup team. He’ll commentate on several matches, and we’ll all be together on programs — plus me here. Welcome aboard.” — Galvão Bueno
Juninho responded warmly: “Thank you for the opportunity, Galvão. This is always very meaningful. And with this team of legends, it’s going to be easy.”
A star-studded broadcast team
Juninho joins a lineup that includes presenter Tiago Leifert, former striker Alexandre Pato, and veteran journalists Mauro Beting, Mauro Naves, Nadine Basttos, Renata Saporito, Isa Labate, and Wallace Neguerê. More names are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
SBT is returning to the World Cup for the first time in 28 years. In partnership with N Sports, the network will broadcast 32 matches live, including every single Brazil game regardless of the stage — using a simulcast model that mirrors coverage across free-to-air TV and pay-TV channels simultaneously.
