Special operations for the Recopa Sudamericana

MetrôRio has rolled out a special transit plan for fans heading to the Maracanã on Thursday, February 26, for the Flamengo vs. Lanús match in the 2026 Recopa Sudamericana. Kickoff is at 9:30 PM local time, and the metro system will operate beyond its standard schedule to handle the post-game flow.

Stations Maracanã and São Cristóvão, both on Line 2, will keep boarding open for 1 hour after the match ends. All other stations run on the regular schedule — 5 AM to midnight — and will remain open for exit only after midnight.

Which station matches your gate

Picking the right station saves time and avoids crowds. Fans with tickets for gates A, B, and C (West and South stands) should exit at Maracanã station. Those entering through gates D, E, and F (East and North stands) are directed to São Cristóvão station.

Lines and transfers

Line 2 will run between Pavuna and Botafogo. Transfers between Lines 1 and 2 are available along the shared stretch between Central do Brasil/Centro and Botafogo stations. MetrôRio will deploy extra security staff and station operators throughout the night, with a stronger presence near the stadium.

Tips for a smoother ride

MetrôRio recommends topping up your card in advance or using contactless payment directly at the turnstile validators. The MetrôRio app — available on Android and iOS — lets you plan your route and track the system in real time. Trip planning is also available at: https://www.metrorio.com.br/
