Socorro opens Christmas Lights on November 28 with attractions, sustainability and Night Run.
The opening of Luzes de Natal marks the beginning of Christmas celebrations in Socorro, São Paulo. In its 13th edition, the event runs from November 28 to January 11, 2026. The theme “A Christmas Dream” enhances the festive atmosphere and attracts thousands of visitors to the Circuito das Águas Paulista.
Citywide illuminated attractions
During 45 days, thirteen locations in the city receive special lighting. The route covers both entrance portals, highway intersections, and central points such as the Cultural Center Museum, Matriz Square, Forum Square, City Hall and downtown streets.
The Tourism Department estimates that the city will receive between 800 thousand and 1.5 million visitors during the festive period.
Night Run brings sport and celebration
A highlight is the 5th Night Run Luzes de Natal, combining sports, tourism and culture. Participants run through decorated streets filled with lights and colors, creating a unique nighttime experience. The race is scheduled for November 29.
Choirs, Santa Cecília Band and Christmas Parade
The program includes musical performances such as the Christmas Choir and the Santa Cecília Band. The Christmas Parade gathers around 200 participants of all ages and promotes community integration, involving academies, the Vem Ser project, APAE, the Elderly Center and Artistic Gymnastics groups.
Commitment to sustainability
For thirteen years, the event has strengthened sustainability actions. This edition features a selective waste collection campaign to ensure proper disposal of recyclable materials. The initiative also reinforces the Tampinha do Bem campaign, encouraging residents and visitors to contribute plastic caps for recycling.
Socorro: adventure, nature and gastronomy
Socorro is known as the Adventure City, offering rafting, rappelling, climbing, zip lines, hot air balloons and panoramic flights. The destination also features ecotourism, rural tourism, handicraft shopping and cuisine ranging from traditional countryside dishes to contemporary creations.
The Cristo Viewpoint offers a 360-degree view of the city and surrounding mountains. At the site, the Cristo Emporium sells local products such as coffee, jams, sweets, cachaças, craft beer and handmade items.
