GOL’s Boeing 737-800 gets special livery featuring the Penha Convent, Pedra Azul, and a humpback whale as the 6th plane in the “Discover Brazil: Flying” campaign.
Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas has unveiled another themed aircraft as part of the “Discover Brazil: Flying” initiative, this time shining a spotlight on the tourism treasures of Espírito Santo. The Boeing 737-800, registered as PR-GUH, now carries a stunning special livery that turns its fuselage into a flying showcase of the state’s most iconic landmarks.
Art that tells a state’s story
Three landmark elements were chosen to represent the identity of Espírito Santo. The fuselage displays the historic Penha Convent flanked by palm trees, a leaping humpback whale celebrating the state’s rich coastal wildlife, and the iconic Pedra Azul mountain, drawn with its distinctive “lizard’s tip” formation.
The design was conceived by GOL’s Creative Hub and applied by the engineering team at GOL Aerotech, based in Confins, Minas Gerais. The project brought together professionals from painting, visual communications, and engineering departments.
A national campaign taking flight
The initiative was conceived by Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Ministry of Ports and Airports and the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear). Its goals include promoting domestic travel, broadening access to civil aviation, and reducing operational costs for carriers.
This is the sixth aircraft GOL has dedicated to the campaign, following tributes to Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Pará, Pernambuco/Fernando de Noronha, and Paraná in late 2025. The plane also carries the official seal of the Espírito Santo State Government and its Tourism Secretariat.
Booming growth in the region
The launch comes as GOL experiences significant growth in Espírito Santo. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the airline recorded a 26.5% increase in operations in the state. Vitória Airport also logged its best passenger year ever in 2025, driven by the expansion of air routes serving the region.
Voices behind the initiative
“Espírito Santo was Brazil’s best-kept secret for years. Now we see tourism in our state growing at a remarkable pace. As I always emphasize, tourism is a government project — a state can only welcome visitors if it offers health, safety, and quality infrastructure. Vitória Airport had its best passenger year in 2025 and we’ve seen our air network expand. Having this partnership with GOL and seeing our tourist attractions on an aircraft makes us very proud. We will keep investing to build a better Espírito Santo every day for our people, because with our house in order, we can welcome those who come to visit.” — Renato Casagrande, Governor of Espírito Santo
“The livery of this Boeing 737-800 with symbols of Espírito Santo is a powerful statement of the state’s identity and a showcase of Espírito Santo in the skies of Brazil. The initiative reinforces the partnership between the public sector and private enterprise to boost tourism. The aircraft also highlights the ‘Encontre-se’ (‘Find Yourself’) positioning — a concept that invites travelers to reconnect with themselves through the experiences of nature, culture, gastronomy, and diversity the state offers.” — Victor Coelho, State Secretary of Tourism, Espírito Santo
“Aviation is an important engine of regional development. The ‘Discover Brazil: Flying’ initiative, built in partnership with the public sector and Abear, shows how joining forces strengthens tourism, drives the local economy, and expands Brazilians’ access to air travel. By honoring Espírito Santo on one of our aircraft, we reaffirm our commitment to connectivity and to the growth of destinations across the country.” — Renata Fonseca, Vice President of Institutional and Government Relations, GOL
