Urbia has prepared a special vacation schedule at Ibirapuera Park, combining leisure, environmental education and science for the whole family. Throughout January, visitors to São Paulo’s most beloved park can participate in workshops, scientific expeditions and guided circuits, all designed to strengthen the connection between people and the rich urban biodiversity found across the 158-hectare site.

For those seeking an in-depth immersion in history and botany, the Environmental Thematic Circuit takes place on January 10 and 25. This is the only paid activity in the program and offers a guided walk led by Urbia that explores the 500 tree species and the iconic architectural ensemble by Oscar Niemeyer. The event is open to all ages and tickets are available at Ibirapuera’s official e-commerce site (https://ibirapuera.urbiapass.com.br/produto/planetario-ibirapuera-circuito-tematico-ambiental-de-ferias-biodiversidade-no-coracao-de-sao-paulo?g=1114). The meeting point is the Visitor Center (Gate 10).

Living Science Expedition for children

January brings the premiere of Living Science Expedition: Adventures in Nature. During the month’s weekends (9-11, 16-18, 24 and 25), young investigators will participate in a playful journey at the Sawmill (near Gate 07). The mission involves deciphering clues about biodiversity and raising scientific hypotheses in a practical and fun way, breaking away from the traditional classroom model.

One of January’s highlights occurs on the 18th, with the Blue City: Jacaranda Blooming activity. In partnership with the Center for Research, Innovation and Diffusion (CEPID), Urbia will promote a citizen science action about climate change and the life cycle of the jacaranda-mimosa. Visitors will learn to identify the species and understand how the purple blooming that colors São Paulo serves as an important environmental indicator for researchers.

Vacation Recreation with the City

Ibirapuera Park will also host the Vacation Recreation program, in partnership with the Municipal Department of Education. The initiative will take place on January 14 and 15 at seven parks managed by Urbia (Ibirapuera, Horto Florestal, Eucaliptos, Lajeado, Tenente Faria Lima, Jardim Felicidade and Jacintho Alberto), with the theme “Play and Imagine”. Around 450 students from CEUs and CECIs will participate in workshops, environmental circuits and Planetarium sessions. The completely free action promotes learning and leisure for students and staff from the public education network.
