Paraty, Rio and Cabo Frio lead bus travel searches in Brazil, according to Platform 10’s analysis of Google data.
The study, conducted from January to December 2025, shows that Brazilian beach destinations remain the most desired by bus travelers. The combination of convenience, affordability and route flexibility keeps buses as a top choice for domestic tourism.
Top 10 most searched destinations
Paraty (RJ) ranks first with 7,000 monthly searches, driven by its beaches Jabaquara, Pontal and Sono. Next are Praia Grande (SP) with 6,000 and Ubatuba (SP) with 5,000. The city of Rio de Janeiro places fourth, with 4,000 average searches, upheld by icons like Sugarloaf Mountain and Copacabana Beach.
Other featured cities include Campos do Jordão, Campinas and Caraguatatuba (3,000 each), while Cabo Frio stands out for its turquoise coastline and cultural heritage. Porto Velho (RO) is the only northern destination on the list. Rounding out the top 10 is Ilhabela (SP), with 2,000 monthly searches.
Buses: affordable and sustainable tourism
According to Abrati, bus tickets can cost up to 90% less than airline fares on routes lasting up to 12 hours. This affordability boosts domestic tourism and reinforces buses as a democratic, sustainable option. Digital platforms also simplify booking and fare comparison.
Tips for bus travelers
To make the trip more pleasant, bring a book, podcast or handheld game. Pack a light snack bag with fruit and water, and an essential hygiene kit with sanitizer and repellent.
