The second episode of the new season of Parques do Brasil dives into the warm, shallow waters of the Abrolhos National Marine Park, located on the southern coast of Bahia. Airing this Sunday (16) at 7 p.m. on TV Brasil, the program unveils the natural beauty and ecological importance of Brazil’s first marine park.
Marine biodiversity and preservation
The episode highlights Abrolhos’ rich ecosystem, home to humpback whales that migrate from Antarctica to give birth in its calm waters. The park also shelters seabirds like boobies and frigates, as well as the largest coral bank in the South Atlantic, featuring endemic species such as the brain coral and elephant ear gorgonian.
Among the reefs, viewers will also encounter endangered species like the goliath grouper and the lemon shark, emphasizing the park’s role as one of Brazil’s most vital marine sanctuaries.
