The state of Rio de Janeiro stole the show on the first day of WTM Latin America 2026. The Setur-RJ (State Tourism Secretariat) and TurisRio set up one of the fair’s largest stands — a sprawling 120m² space at Expocenter Norte in São Paulo — bringing together 50 co-exhibitors and representatives from all 12 of the state’s tourism regions.

An integrated showcase for Rio’s destinations

The stand operates as a unified showcase for Rio de Janeiro tourism, bridging the public sector, private enterprise, and travel trade professionals. Municipalities from across the state presented their attractions, highlighting a diversity that spans beaches and mountains, culture, nature, and rural experiences.

Rio de Janeiro arrives at WTM with strength, organization, and a diverse product offering. Our stand reflects exactly that: a state ready to welcome tourists, generate business, and expand its presence in key source markets.

Lucas Alves, State Secretary of Tourism

Rural tourism and local flavors

One standout feature is the spotlight on rural tourism. The Rural Tourism Association of Paty do Alferes offered tastings of traditional products from the state’s interior, showcasing the gastronomic richness and strength of local production.

A life-size dinosaur and photo-worthy installations

Among the creative activations, a life-size dinosaur from the Terra dos Dinos Park in Miguel Pereira became one of the most photographed spots of the fair on day one. Instagrammable panels also drove strong visitor engagement throughout the day.

Rio de Janeiro’s stand demonstrates, in practice, the integration of the state’s tourism sector. It is a space for business, promotion, and experience — one that strengthens the entire production chain and positions the state as a complete, competitive destination.

Sergio Ricardo de Almeida, President of TurisRio

The participation at WTM Latin America reinforces Setur-RJ’s strategy to boost the visibility of Rio’s destinations in major national and international source markets.
