Living history in the heart of the Amazon

Standing directly across from the Teatro Amazonas — the iconic symbol of Manaus’s rubber-boom prosperity — the Juma Ópera Hotel bridges 19th-century grandeur and contemporary luxury. Opened on February 2, 2020, this high-end boutique hotel occupies three historic buildings in the city’s historic center, two of which were built during the height of the Rubber Cycle era.

The main building is listed by Brazil’s federal heritage institute Iphan and underwent a meticulous restoration process. It famously hosted former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt in the early 20th century, during his legendary Amazon expedition alongside Marshal Rondon — a remarkable chapter of international history set deep in the rainforest.

Design that honors its surroundings

Renowned architect Roberto Vinograd designed the hotel to blend seamlessly with the historic cityscape. To maximize the view of the neighboring theater, all facade wiring was buried underground. Inside, award-winning designer Débora Aguiar crafted interiors that weave together contemporary sophistication, original architectural details, and vibrant Amazonian craftsmanship.

More than a place to stay, the Juma Ópera Hotel is an invitation to experience the spirit of the Amazonian Belle Époque through a modern lens — where history, culture, and luxury converge.

Full amenities for guests and events

The hotel features 41 rooms, many with stunning views of the Teatro Amazonas, plus a restaurant, bar, spa, fitness center, and a breathtaking rooftop pool overlooking the theater. For corporate and social events, the hotel’s flexible spaces — a ballroom and courtyard — cover 320 m² and accommodate up to 200 guests, making them ideal for conferences, cocktail receptions, and celebrations.
