The demand for more authentic, sustainable, and immersive experiences is set to deeply shape tourism in 2026. Among the emerging trends, train journeys stand out as one of travelers’ favorites, according to sector forecasts. This global movement rekindles interest in railway icons such as the Patagonian Train.

Connecting San Carlos de Bariloche to Perito Moreno Station (Los Juncos) in Rio Negro, the Patagonian Train crosses landscapes that capture the soul of the region — endless steppes, silent valleys, tablelands, and the majestic Andes Mountains. More than transportation, it’s a sensory experience blending the slow rhythm of the rails and the natural beauty of Argentine Patagonia.

The trip begins at 7 p.m. from Bariloche Station. Upon arrival, passengers are greeted at the Tea House with wine, hot chocolate, and canapés. Dinner follows, featuring regional cuisine such as empanadas, grilled meats, barbecues, and options for vegans, vegetarians, and celiacs. A live show of local music adds authenticity to the experience. The return to Bariloche takes place around 12:30 a.m.

“Train travel represents everything travelers should seek in 2026: contemplation, authenticity, comfort, and connection with the place. The Patagonian Train embodies this new way of traveling, where every detail of the journey has meaning,” says Martina Gelardi from Emprotur, the tourism promotion entity of Bariloche.

For 2026, the train’s schedule includes departures on January 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31, and on February 7, 14, 21, and 28. Tickets start at R$515 and include dinner. Children up to three years old travel free of charge.
