Bárbara Bandeira drops “Marcha” on Jan 9, the first track from the “Lusa: Act II” EP, deepening her Portuguese roots in a four-act project.
Bárbara Bandeira opens a new chapter of the Lusa project with the release of “Marcha” this Friday (Jan 9). The track kicks off the second stage of a four-act musical and visual work built around the artist’s journey between Portugal and Brazil.
In Act I, the conversation between both countries came through collaborations with Veigh and WIU, exploring urban pop and trap. Now, Lusa: Act II turns inward, spotlighting Bandeira’s Portuguese roots.
Traditional sounds, pop approach
On “Marcha”, Bandeira offers a contemporary take on traditional Portuguese sonorities, reframed through a pop lens. As a result, the song blends tradition and modernity while cultural symbols help signal a turning point within the project.
Popular rituals, gestures linked to mourning and superstition, and references to the imagery of the Procissão ao Mar appear in the lyrics and the music video. In this way, the narrative deepens the project’s Portuguese references in this phase.
Between Portugal and Brazil
Born to a Brazilian mother and a Portuguese father, Bárbara Bandeira grew up shaped by two emotional worlds. “When creating ‘Lusa’, I found a way to bring into my music the connection between Portugal and Brazil that has always been part of my life. ‘Marcha’ opens the project’s second stage, where I dive deeper into my Portuguese roots as a natural part of my artistic path, while also seeking to get closer to the Brazilian audience,” she says.
Intro and what’s next
In December, the singer released the “Lusa: Act II” Intro, described as a short film that sets the atmosphere for the new chapter. Shared on her official channels, the video works as an aesthetic gesture that visually translates her immersion into the Portuguese references guiding this phase.
Acts III and IV of “Lusa” are expected to be released later this year.
