São Paulo will host the Brazilian edition of the World AI Film Festival (WAIFF) on February 27–28, at FAAP (Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado). Billed as the first global festival of films produced with artificial intelligence to land in Brazil, the event has already opened ticket sales on Sympla, with passes valid for both days.
WAIFF 2026 targets creators and the industry
The festival aims to expand the conversation around AI tools and platforms in the audiovisual industry, bringing together creators, producers, brands, artists, programmers, and educators who are already working with AI. Organizers promise more than 20 hours of content, spanning talks, panels, workshops, and meetups designed to unpack how AI is reshaping creative processes and production workflows.
Programming will run simultaneously across two auditoriums. WAIFF also plans a cinema room and a networking area, positioning the event as both a learning hub and a meeting point for collaborations.
Speakers confirmed for talks and debates
Confirmed names include Canadian AI tools specialist Kris Krüg; Fabiano Gullane, partner and executive director at Gullane Filmes; Brazilian musician Zeca Baleiro; and Rapha Borges, CCO at Tiger. The schedule brings discussions on craft, industry, and cultural impact, with an emphasis on practical use cases and creative language.
Competition spotlights AI-made films
Beyond the conference-style programming, WAIFF will run a competitive showcase for projects created with AI in film. Submissions remain open until January 25, with awards across five categories and two special prizes.
Categories include Short Film, Feature Film, Social Media Micro-Series (vertical format), and Advertising. The festival also lists Coup de Cœur – Best of the Festival, plus Best AI Film – Director Under 25 and Best AI Film – Woman Director.
