Garotos Podres brings its 1985 debut to Sesc 24 de Maio

On Jan 25, Garotos Podres hits Sesc 24 de Maio with “Mais Podres do que Nunca,” revisiting the 1985 album and its best-known tracks.A landmark name in 1980s Brazilian punk rock, the band returns to São Paulo aiming to recreate the raw spirit of its early sound. The concert leans heavily on the debut record, whose irreverent lyrics and sharp social commentary helped define the group’s place in Brazil’s underground music history.

An album that became a reference

The show shares its name with the band’s debut, Mais Podres do que Nunca, released in 1985. The album sold over 50,000 copies and remains a direct snapshot of punk from the industrial ABC region of São Paulo, with a distinct identity and confrontational edge.Garotos Podres has also been connected to grassroots movements since the start. The band debuted live in 1983 at a benefit show for the ABC Metalworkers’ Strike Fund—an origin story closely tied to Mauá, the city where the group was formed.
