BH’s Cómo te Lhama? bloc turns Brazilian struggles into tropical art with cumbia and Latin beats on Saturday, February 7, in Belo Horizonte.
Tropical Reanthropophagy Hits Boa Vista
The Cómo te Lhama? bloc from Belo Horizonte unleashes Cumbia Brasilis: Tropical Reanthropophagy. It fuses carnival, cumbia and Latin rhythms, devouring influences to craft something fresh.
The parade kicks off February 7, pre-Carnival Saturday, at 1 PM. Meet at Rua Gomes Pereira, numbers 209 to 191, Boa Vista neighborhood. Free entry.
Stars like Saulo Duarte (PA), Di Ferreira (CE), Jeffim Dabazi and Aleksey el Majadero join in. Over 180 drummers and dancers take the streets.
Everyday Items Become Costumes
Clay filters, bar stools and caramel stray dogs spark outfits. The vibe honors national joys through art, makeshift fixes and humor.
Like other Latinos, Brazilians turn daily life into creative, aesthetic and political fuel through these heartfelt symbols.
Art director Nancy Mora Castro outlines three axes: Reinvented Abaporu, Everyday Objects and Iconic Brazilian History Moments. Varginha ET and Carreta Furacão get witty twists.
Latin Echoes in Brazil
Vocalist Carlos Bolívia links to Peru, Argentina and Bolivia. Brazilian cumbia shines, blended with maracatu and ijexá.
We must grasp we’re Brazilian because we’re Latin. Not Brazilian and also Latin.
Regent Bela Leite cheers the growth: from 2017 to 180 strong in 2026. Backed by Minas Gerais State Cultural Incentive Law, sponsored by Cemig.
