Sam Sabbá is filming “Uma Canção” in southern Brazil and says the theme song was recorded live on set, with cameras and sound rolling.
After releasing his debut EP, “Hoje é por Você”, at the end of last year, the actor and singer begins 2026 at full speed. He has now joined the cast of “Uma Canção”, a feature that places music at the center of both the story and his own creative path.
“I’m very happy to be part of this project and very grateful for everything I’ve been learning with my character,” Sam Sabbá says. He plays Tomás, who reaches adulthood as a famous singer in the United States—an arc that mirrors Sabbá’s connection to music and makes the role feel especially close.
A scene captured with live audio
One behind-the-scenes detail stood out during production. According to Sabbá, the film’s theme track, “You´re Here Right Now”, was recorded live during the shoot, with performance, camera, and sound happening at the same time.
“A curiosity about this work was that we recorded the song ‘You´re Here Right Now’ live on set, with camera and sound. It was a very special moment, and it marked me even more because it’s the theme song of the feature.”
The story of “Uma Canção”
In the melodrama, viewers follow Flora, whose life changes drastically after she is thrown out of her home for being pregnant by the son of an influential city councilman in a small town. Years later, her son Tomás goes missing, pushing her into a painful search for answers that exposes secrets, intrigue, and abuse of power.
Credits and filming locations
The film is produced by Accorde Filmes, directed by Paulo Nascimento, and written by Fernanda Vilella and Anderson Vianna. Filming is taking place in Porto Alegre, Muitos Capões, and Mendonza.
Sabbá also highlights the atmosphere on set. “The shoots have been incredible. The set is light and welcoming, and the crew connected really well. We became a big family, and that makes all the difference when it’s time to film,” he says.
Expanding his creative territory, Sam Sabbá steps into a project that openly engages with urgent, human themes—while keeping the element that runs through his career: the storytelling power of a song.
