Shot in black and white, “Memória Poluída” drops on YouTube April 2 and offers the first glimpse of the Brazilian band’s next creative chapter.
A breath between cycles
Brazilian band Flerte Flamingo released the music video for “Memória Poluída” on Thursday, April 2, on their official YouTube channel. More than a standalone release, the video serves as a bridge between their debut album “Dói Ter” and the early signs of their next project.
Filmed in black and white, the clip takes a stripped-back and sensitive approach, placing performance at the center. The pared-down lineup features Leonardo Passovi on vocals and acoustic guitar, alongside Fernando Tavares — the band’s longtime producer — on electric guitar.
This video was born as a breath between cycles. We still carry a lot of what we built in ‘Dói Ter’, but we’re already looking ahead, experimenting with new ways of saying things and showing up. ‘Memória Poluída’ ended up becoming that crossing point.
Recorded at Estúdio 12 por 8
The video was recorded at Estúdio 12 por 8 in Bahia, with image and sound captured by Pablo Moreno Pires. The deliberate choice of a minimal setup underlines the band’s intention to let the song speak for itself. The outcome is a video that embodies a transitional phase, where both the visual and sonic language of the group is beginning to reshape itself.
“Memória Poluída” also closes a cycle that began during the same recording session — the same day — as the previously released video for “Preciso Demais”, also shot by Pablo Moreno Pires. Together, the two clips cement an aesthetic defined by acoustic, black-and-white performances. Crucially, this marks the first time the band has introduced an unreleased track within this format.
A visual language built since 2017
This is the third time Flerte Flamingo has committed to this style of intimate performance video. The format debuted in 2017 with an acoustic clip for “Toque Ensaiado”, was revisited during the pandemic with “Criatura do Mal”, and now reaches a new depth with “Memória Poluída”. Each release has marked a turning point in the band’s journey — and this one is perhaps the most forward-looking of all.
From Bahia to São Paulo
Founded in Salvador, Bahia in the summer of 2015, Flerte Flamingo built their sound around a rock instrumentation layered with the rhythms of samba, ijexá, and samba-reggae. After years cultivating the independent music scene in their home city and appearing at local festivals, the band relocated to São Paulo and began a deep aesthetic reinvention.
In the second half of 2023, the group retreated to a rented house in Mairinque, in the São Paulo interior, alongside producer Fernando Tavares, to develop the tracks for their debut album. Final recordings took place between April and June 2024 at Ekord Studios (SP) and 12 por 8 (BA). The result was “Dói Ter” — a meticulous, immersive album that evokes the atmosphere of a pre-pandemic Salvador brimming with possibility.
