16,000 free postcards of Belo Horizonte are available at tourist centers for anyone to pick up and send to any destination worldwide.
Visitors and residents of Belo Horizonte can now pick up a brand-new BH postcard for free at any of the city’s Tourist Service Centers (CATs). The process is simple: write your message, fill in the recipient’s address, and hand it over. Belotur, the city’s tourism agency, handles shipping via the postal service — to any address in Brazil or abroad.
13 designs celebrating Belo Horizonte
The new collection features 13 different designs across 16,000 copies. The images showcase the city’s most beloved cultural, culinary, and tourist landmarks, including the Casa do Baile, the Pampulha Chapel, the Mercado Central, Praça da Estação, and the Mirante do Acaiaca viewpoint.
Cultural events also feature prominently, with designs inspired by the city’s Carnival and the Arraial de Belô festival. Food lovers will appreciate the references to BH’s thriving culinary scene, including the iconic Pampulha Lagoon, the Museum of Art, and Avenida Fleming, one of the city’s most celebrated gastronomic corridors.
The back of each card includes space for a personal note, facts about the featured attraction, and the city’s tourism tagline: “Te Encontro em BH” (See You in BH).
In their own words
The ‘Seu Postal Vai Viajar’ project reinforces Belo Horizonte’s commitment to creative and heartfelt tourism promotion. More than showcasing our attractions, the initiative revives the symbolic experience of sending a postcard, creating genuine connections between people and places. It is a way for visitors — and residents — to share their experiences, highlight our culture, gastronomy and hospitality, and carry a piece of Belo Horizonte’s identity to different parts of Brazil and the world.
Eduardo Cruvinel, president of Belotur
No cost to the city
The 16,000 postcards were produced as a compensatory measure under the Belo Horizonte City of Events public call, a program that financially supports events with tourism potential. As a result, this new batch came at no direct cost to the municipality.
A campaign with deep roots
The “Seu Postal Vai Viajar” (Your Postcard Will Travel) campaign launched in October 2008, connecting Brazil’s top tourist destinations through the simple act of mailing a card. Its biggest moment came during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, when Belo Horizonte distributed 14,500 postcards sent free of charge to more than 90 countries.
Over the past two years alone, Belotur has sent more than 2,000 postcards to cities across Minas Gerais, other Brazilian states, and destinations on every continent — steadily building Belo Horizonte’s international profile.
