Focused on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, new winery in Limarí bets on extreme terroir to compete in the global premium wine market
Viña Amelia emerges as a new independent branch of Concha y Toro, marking a decisive move toward specialization in high-end wines. The project focuses exclusively on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, rooted in the unique terroir of Chile’s Limarí Valley.
CEO Eduardo Guilisasti highlights that the initiative strengthens the company’s premiumization strategy, emphasizing origin, identity, and precision winemaking.
Limarí takes center stage
The Quebrada Seca vineyard, located just 23 km from the Pacific Ocean, anchors the project. The area combines ocean influence, clay-limestone soils, and proximity to the Atacama Desert.
These conditions produce wines with freshness, tension, and marked minerality, shaping a distinctive identity.
“In Limarí, we found an exceptional terroir for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, comparable to the world’s great origins,” says Eduardo Guilisasti.
Specialization drives growth
The launch aligns with a global trend: consumers increasingly seek wines with clear origin and identity. Highly specialized projects are gaining traction.
According to Isabel Guilisasti, few New World wineries focus exclusively on these two varieties, positioning Viña Amelia as a pioneer in Chile.
Rising global demand for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir further supports the company’s premium strategy.
Leadership and global ambition
Winemaker Marcelo Papa leads the technical direction, focusing on detailed vineyard analysis and precise expression of terroir.
With growing international recognition, Viña Amelia enters a new phase aiming at the global fine wine stage.
