Four decades of Brazilian theater in one volume: Falabella launches a landmark collection at Rio’s iconic Livraria da Travessa.
Brazilian actor and playwright Miguel Falabella launched “A partilha e outras peças teatrais” (The Division and Other Plays) on Monday (March 23) at the Livraria da Travessa bookstore in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro. The book signing, published by Matrix Editora, drew friends, fans, and fellow artists.
Among the guests were actors Edson Celulari, Zezé Polessa, Natália do Vale, Guilherme Magon, and sociologist Mirian Goldenberg — a gathering that reflected the deep affection the Brazilian artistic community holds for Falabella’s work.
Four plays spanning 35 years
The collection brings together four essential works of contemporary Brazilian theater: A partilha, O som e a sílaba, A sabedoria dos pais, and Os olhos de Nara Leão, written between 1990 and 2025. Each play carries a distinct voice while sharing a common emotional core.
The texts are united by deeply human themes: memory, affection, loss, resentment, and the possibility of reconciliation. Together, they form an intimate portrait of the Brazilian dramatic imagination.
A living archive for stage and page
Beyond its value as a historical record, the book invites readers, actors, and directors to rediscover scenes that shaped Brazilian stages — and to find new layers of meaning with every reading.
The book is available at Matrix Editora (matrixeditora.com.br), on Amazon (https://a.co/d/06EHrcSF), and at bookstores across Brazil.
