Projects combine workshops in Niterói and new Sítio do Picapau Amarelo books at II FLI Petrópolis.
The promotion of children’s reading and artistic expression gains new momentum in Rio de Janeiro state. Two initiatives are led by MoMa Editora. The actions include workshops in Niterói. In addition, new books inspired by the Sítio do Picapau Amarelo reach the public.
Workshops for children in Niterói
In Niterói, MoMa Editora opened registration for activities for children aged 2 to 13. The action takes place in partnership with the Tatiana Belinky Reading Space. The next registration date will be Friday, November 28, at 10 a.m.
The meeting will be held at the Espaço Eco meeting point. At the site, the project coordinator will guide parents and guardians. The initiative strengthens early reader formation. It also encourages artistic sensitivity and self-knowledge.
The publisher’s founder, writer and researcher Mônica Martins, highlights these pillars as central. Meanwhile, the space honors one of Brazil’s leading children’s literature authors. Recently, the venue received cultural recognition.
The space was awarded the Nicette Bruno Culture Diploma 2025. The honor was granted by the Niterói City Council. Thus, the recognition expands the project’s cultural relevance.
New books inspired by the Sítio
In Petrópolis, MoMa Editora presents new works inspired by the Sítio do Picapau Amarelo. The titles explore contemporary themes. These include belonging, family diversity and affective memory. Environmental preservation is also addressed.
The books will be launched at the Palácio de Cristal during the II FLI Petrópolis. Events will take place on November 27 and 30. All activities will be free to the public.
The titles include O Laço, A canastrinha da Emília, Uma família para Emília, VivaMataViva, O museu do Ipiranga and A menina do Narizinho Arrebitado. All works are written by Mônica Martins.
The narratives blend fantasy, historical investigation and poetry. In this way, they bring the Lobato universe closer to today’s children. At the same time, they preserve ties with collective memory.
“Revisitar o Sítio é revisitar o imaginário afetivo de muita gente, mas com o cuidado de conversar com as infâncias de hoje. É memória, mas também é futuro”
The editions also feature illustrators and designers from different schools. Thus, the project reinforces its collaborative profile. Both actions underline MoMa Editora’s role in linking literature and childhood.
