With an electric trio and a Carnival-ready set, Lagum na Avenida hits BH on Feb 15; meet at 7am on Rua Sergipe.Belo Horizonte’s Carnival won’t feel the same without it: the Minas Gerais band Lagum has confirmed the third edition of its street bloco. The parade takes place on February 15, Carnival Sunday, with the group leading the celebration from an electric trio.
Date, time and route for Lagum na Avenida
The bloco will keep the same route as in previous years. The gathering point is Rua Sergipe at Avenida Cristóvão Colombo, near Praça da Liberdade, and the parade moves along Avenida Brasil. Organizers set the meet-up for 7am.
Carnival arrangements and local pride
Lead singer Pedro Calais says Lagum’s presence in BH’s Carnival underscores the importance of local bands in the city’s street circuit. In his view, one of the event’s defining traits is how it celebrates Minas musical roots while welcoming many different rhythms.
“We decided to rework our songs with Carnival arrangements, alongside musicians who are part of that circuit.”
He adds that the band has always been part of the crowd, and now brings its own repertoire into the party through specially crafted arrangements. The goal, he says, is to strengthen the movement and bring even more people into the streets.
Crowd expectations and the setlist
The first two editions drew massive crowds. In 2025, more than 100,000 people joined Lagum na Avenida, and the band expects an even bigger turnout in 2026.Bassist Chicão says 2025 marked growth in partners, sponsors and supporters. This year, the focus is on delivering an even better experience and expanding the bloco’s scale.The setlist will span highlights from the band’s 11-year career, songs from the latest album, “As Cores, as Curvas e as Dores do Mundo,” and versions created specifically for Carnival.

Lagum na Avenida is co-produced with A Macaco, a Belo Horizonte events company and music label behind Festival Sarará. Active since 2014, A Macaco supports street Carnival through cultural initiatives designed to help fund and organize parades, connect partners and boost the city’s bloco ecosystem.
