Ogum, the iron god, stars in a stunning float unveiled by União de Maricá, capping the balangandãs sector for Carnival 2026 with iron and silver flair.
União de Maricá Unveils Second Float
União de Maricá revealed its second float for Carnival 2026 this Monday (Feb. 2). Titled “Ogum and the Forge of Metal”, it fits the plot “Berenguendéns and Balagandãs” by designer Leandro Vieira.
The float closes a sector in the Série Ouro group at Marquês de Sapucaí. It honors Ogum through balangandãs, Afro-Brazilian charms of faith and protection.
By featuring Ogum to close this sector, we’re celebrating African ancestral knowledge that turns metal into symbols of protection and identity.
Says carnavalesco Leandro Vieira. Ogum embodies labor, technology, and forge wisdom for these pendants.
Metallic Design Takes Center Stage
Iron and silver dominate the look. Dogs “pulling” the float, drums, and details shine in metallic silver tones. At the heart, Ogum stands as a dark-skinned warrior in silver armor.
“This float visually captures balangandãs as protective jewels,” adds Vieira. Ogum‘s iron tools echo the pendants’ themes of devotion and resilience.
The school parades sixth on Saturday (14) in Série Ouro.
