2DIE4, the first Brazilian movie shot for IMAX, sells out its New York premiere and arrives in Brazil on April 30.
The Brazilian film industry reached new heights with 2DIE4: 24 Hours on the Edge, directed by brothers André and Salomão Abdala. The movie premiered in New York on February 19 at the AMC Empire 25, with a sold-out audience — marking the first-ever Brazilian film created for IMAX.
Before its NYC debut, the film had special screenings in Miami and Daytona, totaling 24 sessions as part of its U.S. rollout between April 16 and 20, exclusive to IMAX® theaters. After that window, it will expand to traditional cinemas.
Youngest IMAX directors in history
The Abdala Brothers became the youngest filmmakers ever to direct an IMAX feature — André (26) and Salomão (28) surpassed Ryan Coogler’s record set with Black Panther.
The film, developed over seven years, immerses viewers in the mind of driver Felipe Nasr during the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. With large-format cameras, pristine sound, and a first-person narrative, 2DIE4 turns endurance racing into a cinematic experience like no other.
“Real-world action evokes emotions CGI never could,” the Abdala brothers said, naming Christopher Nolan as their main influence.
Awarded Best Feature Documentary at the Motor Sports Film Award 2025, 2DIE4 redefines the boundaries of motorsport cinema through bold realism and technical innovation.
Distributed by O2 Play and sponsored by Porsche Brasil, the film opens across Brazilian IMAX® cinemas on April 30, reaching regular theaters after April 20.
Sponsorship: Porsche Brasil, Urban and Malhi.
