“Michael” trailer puts Jaafar Jackson in the spotlight

The first “Michael” trailer is out, spotlighting Jaafar Jackson in the biopic headed to Brazilian theaters on April 23.

Alongside the trailer, Universal Pictures released the film’s official poster, positioning the project as a big-screen biography of Michael Jackson’s life and legacy.

“Michael” aims for a grounded biopic

Jaafar Jackson, the artist’s nephew, leads the cast. He shares the role with Juliano Valdi, who helps portray different stages from childhood to adulthood.

Director Antoine Fuqua brings his action-drama experience from films like “Training Day” and “White House Down”. Producer Graham King, who won an Oscar for “Bohemian Rhapsody”, is behind the project.

From Jackson 5 to global solo icon

The story tracks Michael Jackson’s journey beyond the music business, starting with his early rise as the Jackson 5 frontman and moving into the drive that shaped his solo career.

It also highlights the creative ambition that fueled his pursuit of becoming the biggest artist in the world, while making room for the offstage side of the story.

Cast and theater formats in Brazil

Supporting cast includes Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Laura Harrier, and Miles Teller. Universal Pictures will release the film exclusively in Brazilian cinemas.

“Michael” opens on April 23 with accessible versions and IMAX screenings, expanding how audiences can experience it in theaters.
