A wish-granting toy turns a hopeless romantic’s life into a sinister nightmare in “Obsession,” the thriller premiering in May across theaters.
Universal Pictures has unveiled a new trailer and official poster for “Obsession”, a psychological thriller written and directed by Curry Barker, the filmmaker behind “Milk & Serial”. The film, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, opens in Brazilian theaters on May 21.

The production earned international acclaim by winning the Audience Award at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, Spain, and was also featured at Fantastic Fest in Texas.
A wish with a dark price
The story follows a hopeless romantic with little ambition who acquires a toy capable of granting unique wishes. When he accidentally breaks the toy while making his wish, he gets exactly what he wanted: the heart of his crush. However, he soon discovers that achieving his desire comes with a dark and sinister price.
The cast features Michael Johnston from “Teen Wolf”; Inde Navarrette from “Superman & Lois”; Cooper Tomlinson from “Milk & Serial”; Megan Lawless from “The Hate U Give”; and American comedian and host Andy Richter.
The film is produced by James Harris (Teashop Productions), Haley Nicole Johnson (Under the Shell), and Christian Mercuri on behalf of Capstone Pictures. Curry Barker serves as both writer and director.
