Dragon Dance, tea ceremony and Tai Chi highlight the free Chinese New Year celebration at São Paulo’s Immigration Museum with Ibrachina.
On February 28, the Immigration Museum in São Paulo becomes a cultural bridge between Brazil and China through a free Chinese New Year celebration. From 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors will enjoy an immersive experience organized with Ibrachina, the Dao Center for Oriental Culture, the Confucius Institute for Business at FAAP, and the Brazilian School of Chinese Medicine (EBRAMEC).
The schedule features workshops, traditional performances, and activities based on Chinese Medicine. Highlights include Tai Chi Chuan lessons, a tea ceremony, culinary workshops, and the spectacular Dragon and Lion Dance, one of the symbols of the Spring Festival.
“Celebrating Chinese New Year at the Immigration Museum is a meaningful gesture — a dialogue between cultures that honors Brazil’s diversity,” said Thomas Law, president of Ibrachina.
The celebration also connects with the temporary exhibition Silk That Unites Mountains and Seas – From China to Brazil, exploring the history of sericulture and the cultural exchanges between both nations. The event marks the Year of the Fire Horse, a symbol of energy, renewal, and transformation.
