After 10 years, Feira Preta Festival returns to Rio in May with three days of Black culture, entrepreneurship, and heritage at Little Africa.
Under the theme “Viva Pequena África”, the 2026 edition will take over Píer Mauá, Armazém Kobra, and the port region from May 29 to 31. The event celebrates memory and innovation while projecting the future of Brazil’s Black economy.
Following last year’s success in Salvador, which brought together over 30,000 people, this new edition continues to connect historical Afro-diasporic territories across Brazil, building bridges for cultural and economic empowerment.
“Returning to Rio after ten years means honoring the strength of this territory in shaping Black Brazilian culture,” said Adriana Barbosa, founder of Feira Preta. “Little Africa is a living symbol of memory, resistance, and the future.”
Organized in partnership with the Viva Pequena África initiative, the festival embraces a collaborative governance model centered on the territory’s transformation. For director Antônio Pita, it’s “a unique opportunity to celebrate local legacies and converge creative Black economies for the benefit of the community.”
As the largest Black culture and economy festival in Latin America, Feira Preta brings music, entrepreneurship, samba circles, discussions, gastronomy, and business networking to Rio’s iconic port area.
