“Pasqualino and Nature,” by Cia. Lúdica, visits two public schools in Santa Isabel on April 14–15 with free, fully accessible performances for students.
The Children’s Environmental Theater Circuit – Pasqualino and Nature arrives in Santa Isabel, São Paulo, with a free run designed exclusively for the school community. Performances take place at Escola João José de Almeida Filho on April 14 and at Escola Prefeito Waldir José Cabral Saueia on April 15, with sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day.
A story told without words
Rooted in silent film, physical theater, mime, and clowning, the show follows Pasqualino, a gentle and curious worker who tends to the elements of nature. When a mysterious figure called the Shadow threatens to erase the colors and joy of the natural world, Pasqualino must face the challenge head-on. The entire story unfolds through visual language, making it accessible to audiences of all ages.
Marcya Harco plays Pasqualino and also serves as artistic director. Érica Franze brings the Shadow to life. Casting two women in the roles of hero and antagonist deliberately subverts traditional gender norms, offering an inclusive and poetic experience for children, youth, and families.
The script was written by Paulo Drumond and Marcya Harco, co-founders of Cia. Lúdica, a Brazilian theater company established in 1994 that is known for blending education, citizenship, and social responsibility in its productions.
Accessibility and sustainability at the core
The first session at each school will include Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) interpretation, audio description, and accessibility monitors, ensuring the show reaches deaf, blind, low-vision, and neurodivergent audience members. Printed programs will also be available in braille.
On the environmental front, the production carries a Carbon-Neutral Event certification, making it one of the first Brazilian theater projects to measure, reduce, and offset carbon emissions across every stage of its production.
